I love this place, great food, good wine & wonderful service. The garlic butter for the rolls is amazing! Always packed on the weekend, you must make reservations but may still have to wait. The bar is small but nice, you can order and eat there if u wish !

We found this "gem" last week. There aren't too many places to eat in West Jeff. We've been driving past it for over a month. Turns out this was our "loss". Very clean inside and out. Family-run with Italian-American menu. The food is good. Spaghetti sauce like my Italian Aunt used to make (sweet & a little tangy). Yum! Meatball was excellent. The chef salad was very good (per my Wife). This will be our "go to" place in the future Lunch prices are $8 to $12. Server was polite and attentive w/I being "clingy"

Everyone has a calling. Tony's calling is red sauce. God put him on this earth to make red sauce and to bring it to the masses. The restaurant is still owned by the same family now run by the grandson of Tony himself. My Dad has been eating here for close to 40 years. If they still made their own ravioli, they would get five stars. But I am not over that change.

We were standing outside Ann & Tony's after celebrating my grandma's 90th birthday dinner Sunday afternoon. There were 14 of us and we all were commenting on what a wonderful time we had at this restaurant. We were all very impressed with these folks and the great service we got here. Everyone ordered something different from lasagna, to prime rib, spaghetti and meatballs, sampler platters and crab cakes. All of us enjoyed our dinners (unusual for us). Our dinners ranged from $14 to $20 so it was an excellent value for the quantity and quality of food we received. I ordered the Fettuccine Alfredo with Grilled Shrimp and it was quite good with a nice buttery sauce over pasta with plenty of shrimp on top. The sauces they use are homemade too, so extra points for that. The service we received from Angie was excellent. I give her kudos for being nice and polite while giving us that "just right" balance of friendly but not obtrusive service. As Bill S. said in his review, Ann & Tony's is "Truly a find." Anyone who enjoys Italian food, steaks and seafood will like this quaint little independent Italian restaurant just 10 minutes west of Columbus. The atmosphere is comfortable in a homey relaxed setting. I understand that it used to be a house years ago so there's several different rooms, of which two of them have fireplaces which was cool to see. I guess this place puts me in mind of Villa Nova in Clintonville if that helps you get a visual. My grandma's 90th birthday was important to the family and these folks came through for us with shining colors. I couldn't find anything wrong with our experience so, 5 stars.

Great Service! Large portion dinners! We were there on a Wednesday night. I've heard it gets crowded and the service can be slower on Sat night.

I'd not been to Ann and Tony's since my wife's Uncle Jim Karnes took us there years ago. I only remember that all of the food we ordered at that time was delicious. But, as I walked in now with my wife and friends, between the wonderful, aromatic smells coming from the kitchen and my mind trying to connect with whether I'd just returned to the Mediterranean Old Food World of a Sicilian restaurant instead of a little Italian restaurant off W. Broad St. in the small town of West Jefferson. I was excitedly confused and my taste buds were on full alert for what awaited them. Physically, as I stepped through the doors of Ann and Tony's, it appeared as if I had walked into a Christmas wonderland, like those found at Frankenmuth MI., complete with a myriad of shining white bulbs throughout the restaurant and several small lighted Christmas Trees, providing a whimsical, fantastical aura. Such was the world-ambiance of Ann and Tony's in West Jefferson, OH. Arriving on time for our 7:00 pm reservation, we were very quickly seated in a very busy restaurant. Our drink orders were taken and our waitress returned and I was allowed a little extra time (which I needed) to select my entrée. The entire table decided to pass on appetizers and get straight to the main dishes. I ordered a Large Italian Number 1 that included Chicken parmesean, lasagna, and spaghetti for a reasonable $17.99. Each of the portions were enormous and I knew as soon as Amanda, our server set my food in front of me, I was going to be taking food home. But, my Chicken Parm had a light, crisp, crusty breading with a slightly sweet marinara sauce and a hint of basil. While outside had the cheesy goodness of the parmesan and mozzarella. I would have been satisfied with just this part of the meal. But then, the lasagna allowed me to experience the wonderful aromas and depth of flavors of Old World Italian cooking. I prefer a cheesy, nicely seasoned tomato sauce rather than belchamal (that I've seen from time-to time) and even though I love garlic in Italian cooking, neither the sauce or herbs overpowered the wonderful overall taste of the lasagna. On to the spaghetti which was cooked to the perfect al dente texture with two added meatballs, also cooked thoroughly and seasoned well. After our meal, a very animated, lively man, who introduced himself as the chef and owner, Tom Buscemi came out to talk to our table and discuss the wonderful meal we'd eaten. I was so full that I'll have to come back another time for the delicious desserts that I could only drool over on my way to the cash register. Could all those yummy-looking desserts, so close to the cash register be part of some "carry out" plan? Nahh! As I left the restaurant, friends suggested that I look at the rear of the restaurant, away from the street. To my surprise, I saw a small area with a table and chairs, lighted trees; a perfect place to wait for your reserved time or to share a bottle of wine. All in all, I eagerly am looking for reasons to go back as I thoroughly enjoyed this dining experience.

I have been here for lunch twice. The food is old school and very good. A family run place with lots of locals and older folks as customers. I would have rated higher, but the service is pretty poor- slow and not friendly. The food is really good- the fried vegetable platter is indulgent and not to be missed.

We were in west Jefferson checking out antique stores, and there aren't many choices for lunch. After reading the reviews we decided to try out Ann & Tony's. First impression, the lobby is a gift store of sorts- kind of weird, since it's not a Cracker Barrel! A sign said seat yourself, we did- there were probably 5 tables of older couples dining, so not particularly busy- however, it took our waitress 15 minutes to acknowledge our table of two and bring menus. She was not friendly, seemed like maybe she didn't want to be there? Ok... The lunch menu is a one sided printout of mostly Italian fare- I had had the special, which was tuna casserole and my sister had the fish sandwich. My side salad arrive warm and wilted- kind of gross. But our food overall was delicious. So, in conclusion- the food was homemade and tasty but the dining experience was marginal.

We had an excellent server who was very enthusiastic. The sauce is wonderful and we even ordered a container to go. Portions are very generous and prices are reasonable for what you get. It is a family run business and has a nostalgic feel. It is a hidden gem just a few miles off I 70 in W Jefferson. Entrees come with a crisp fresh salad which was a nice blend of lettuce. My husband had the chicken parm and I had the Sunday special which was fried perch. The perch was lightly breaded and fried, and in addition to the salad, came with a vegie and potato. Wasn't sure about ordering fish in an Italian restaurant, but I was glad I did. Hubby enjoyed his chicken which came with a generous portion of spaghetti. Will definitely be back.

There was not a kids menu at lunch (don't know about dinner) but there is side servings of spaghetti and grilled cheese on the menu.

Been coming here for years. The food is always delicious! The chicken Parmesan is spectacular, along with the rolls. I hope they never close!

I have eaten here twice. Both times while visiting a relative. He's in his 80s and this is his "special" place. I was honored he brought me here. The first time I had the fish and it was amazing. Perfectly cooked. This time I had the scallops and they were expertly fried with a very light coating and the sides were plentiful. The salads were great and the bread was amazing. The service was very nice. I see why the local dine here. We were a party of 8 and everyone enjoyed their food. The pasta portions were so big everyone took some home. This is no Olive Garden. It's a place where people come to be treated special.

This is a great place. I usually like to order the shrimp (it is very good( but this time I tried the prime rib sandwich per a suggestion from a friend. It was fantastic! I had with cheese, grilled onions, and mushrooms. Get the homemade chips - wonderful. The service was a little on the slow side but what's the hurry? Oh and the chicken wings are really good. Get the BBQ sauce. The wings are just deep fried and the sauce served on the side.

Wow! This hidden gem is worth the short drive from Columbus. Authentic Italian food that is amazing. My wife and I have heard great things about this place, so we decided to try it out. It's kinda in a middle of nowhere, in West Jefferson. Inside, it is nice, with a small bar and even a little gift shop. The decor, although dated, feels warm and inviting. Not a lot of windows. Kind of like feels like having dinner at Grandma's house! A lot of older people seem to eat here. But we didn't feel out of place at all. The service was good and the food even better. The chicken Parmesan was great, with amazing sauce that had great flavor. My wife had the lasagna/ chicken Parmesan combo, and she loved it. A salad, rolls and this great garlic butter is included with the meal. We also had the garlic bread with cheese...and it was amazing. They also have steaks and seafood, but we just wanted true Italian. Strangely, the menu says that desserts and sandwiches are also available, but you have to ask for them. Kind of odd. Overall, a great meal and a welcome change from the typical chain restaurants. Highly recommend and worth the short drive.

Went to Ann and Tony's last night for a family dinner. There was six of us in the group, age ranging from 30 to 80. Everyone got something different and the table was quiet after the food was served, which says a lot for my family! We all got something different, Ocean Perch, Sea Bass, spaghetti and meatballs, lasagna and chicken parmesan. It all looked good. I got the chicken Parmesan and highly recommend this dish. Chicken is tender and crispy and the sauce is sweet and tangy.

Truly a find. I had the sampler - chicken parm, lasagna, Fettuccine alfredo. All three were the best I've had. The boy had a meatball sub - it was awesome. The Bruschetta was delicious but different, it's on a flat bread - but I liked it. Restaurant was clean and in good repair. Look was a little dated. When you walk in, they are selling candles and the smell is a little off-putting, but I got over it quickly. Server was friendly and attentive. Prices were more than fair. Greeter in the front did not smile or welcome us - she just said "you can seat yourselves". This costed Ann & Tony a star :) Your brand is comprised of what you do - and the first thing a restaurant should do is make you feel welcomed. Overall - a great visit and we'll be back. If you're within an hour, worth the drive. We drove 45 minutes to give them a try and I felt that it was well worth the drive.

A mom & pop kinda place. I ordered the small order of crab cakes for $15.99. For that price, I received a very basic dinner salad with their house italian (like Olive Garden), one very small lump of crab cake, and green beans & corn out of a can. Also got dinner roll that was actually warm and very good. The crab cake was ok, but not very warm. Actually had some cold spots in it. My husband ordered one of the convos with lasagna, chicken parm, & one other item. It was a lot of food for $13.99. He was not a fan of the lasagna. Said the sauce was weird. He liked the chicken parm, but said it was cold by the time he go to it. So yeah...overall, an expensive disappointment.

I give this place five stars for being in such a small town as well as the food tasting great. The decor is kind of simple looks a little more country-ish than Italian but it still looks nice and the place looked really clean. I ordered the penne pasta with spaghetti sauce and mushrooms, sauce was very rich and hearty very tasty. My husband had no complaints about his lasagna it was a very big helping and he managed to eat most of it. I should have ordered the smaller portion of penne pasta, because what I did receive was enough to feed at least three people Lol. The service was good for there being a large group of people in there and it being busy, we received our food in a timely manner. We were too full to order dessert... I really like this place and hopefully we can come back soon as the prices are fairly decent and with our meals combined ended up being less than $40 which is cheaper than Olive Garden and the food tasted way better.

Three stars for Ann & Tony's. I think the food gets four stars, I encountered a few issues that knocked a star off for me. I was the first of my party to arrive. It wasn't busy at all, but it seemed like it took a really long time to get our table together. The layout of the menu makes it hard to read. The text is green and red and printed over a picture of the restaurant. All the entrees have two sizes and two prices. The strange thing about it is there's a big menu that had pasta and some other entrees and then there's a small, separate menu with appetizers and other entrees. We didn't get enough of the smaller menus for each person and some people didn't get to look at it or didn't understand it so they didn't bother. That's too bad because there were delicious things on the small menu. The menu gives the pasta center stage, but the seafood is what you should order here. My date ordered crab cakes with lobster sauce from the small menu and they were fantastic. The lobster sauce was made with a big pile of fresh, juicy lobster meat and even included the claws. I had the fried perch which was also very fresh and served in generous portions. The French fries that came with it were great. They should do a burger. Service was kind of meh. Not terrible, but not great. The dining room could use an update, bad lighting. Find the small menu, skip the pasta, order seafood, forgive questionable atmosphere and service, happy dinner at Ann & Tony's.

Delicious! Had the sampler #2--fettuccine, lasagna, and chicken parm-they were all great. There was a kids menu that had good choices as well. Overall a great restaurant with great good!

I come here with family once or twice each year. While the folks in their 70s who grew up eating here love it and I have years of fold memories, I have to say I would never eat here if not to please those older family members. Being the only sit-down restaurant in town, the service is slower than slow. The pasta is made in-house, but does not seem to be hand-made, and the sauce is comparable to Ragu in taste and consistency. Pros: portion sizes are huge (really, 3 people could share a sampler and be fully satisfied). Cons: seating is crowded, service is slow, food is mediocre and overpriced (I mean, it's pasta!). Also, parking is very limited, and neighboring businesses tow Ann & Tony's clientele.

Great Italian home cooking. Staff was pleasant and attentive even when they were super busy. Food is nothing fancy, but tastes fabulous. They use alot of "gahlic" which appeals to me. Italian comfort food.

I was really hoping to find a gem of an italian resteraunt out in the outskirts of town. Instead, I think Ann and Tony's is just an okay place that I probably won't make the trek out to again. I love the idea of the business being passed down in the family for generations, but I feel like the taste that should go along with that went missing at some point. I had the chiken parmesan. It was good. But it was good like it would probably be good at Bob Evans. It was a piece of fried chicken with some boxed spaghetti on the side. The staff was nice and portions were huge. I think its a good value, but if you live in Columbus, I would opt for Salvis or Bucca.

I can't really say anything bad about this restaurant except that the prices are way too high for the quality and portions of food you are served. The food is good - middle of the road, maybe a little higher. But $14 entree this does not make. The staff is friendly and the environment is nice and casual but this wouldn't be my first choice. However - if you have family in Springfield and you live in Columbus this is a nice half way option. Better than fast food.

I thought the food was well priced and good; however, the service was not-so-good. It took at least 30 minutes to get our drinks and order. The server forgot to give us our bread with our meal.

Not fancy, but I've never had a bad meal here. Get the chicken fingers appetizer (not greasy, juicy chicken, thin breading) and any Italian dish.

several months ago we ate here first time. food, atmosphere, service, everything were great. my husband tried prime rib. that was super great. so we went back our anniversary a little while ago. except prime rib, other food included bread , herb butter, appetizer, salad and pasta wasn't good like first time. to me seems like Food quality is unstable except for prime rib. prime ribs were great. I think they serve best prime rib in town.

Went here for the first time about 6 months ago on a recommendation from my nephew. We have now become 'regulars'. The pasta and sauce is outstanding. I have a tough time choosing between spaghetti and meatballs, lasagna, and chicken parm. All are very good. Their prime rib was a real surprise, outstanding. Nice lean cut, very large, and very tasty, also highly recommended. They are also known for their pickerel, although I have not personally tried it. Prices are not cheap, but reasonable enough for the great food and generous proportions. Their garlic toast with cheese makes a super starter. Can't say enough good about this place. Going there again this weekend.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
